Suomen maailmankuulu innovaatiojärjestelmä nikottelee. Uusia tuotteita ja palveluita ei ole syntynyt mittavista ponnisteluista huolimatta. Rakennetun ympäristön merkitys yhteiskunnassa ja arjessa on suurempi kuin koskaan. Tukholman Royal seaport, Kalasataman Terveys- ja hyvinvointikeskus, Baana, Kallioliike, Kutsuplus, Länsimetro ja Ravintolapäivä ovat konkreettisia esimerkkejä rakennetun ympäristön uusista ulottuvuuksista. Miten ja mihin suuntaan rakennettua ympäristöä pitäisi kehittää jatkossa?

RYMin ja Demos Effectin kanssa 30.9. klo 14-17.

Kutsumme sinut mukaan työpajaan, koska olet rakennetun ympäristön vaikuttaja. Tule siis kertomaan mitä sinä tarvitset toimintasi tueksi, jotta voit kehittää ympäristöäsi yhä viihtyisämmäksi ja elinvoimaiseksi. Samalla tapaat muita urbanisteja, yrittäjiä, suunnittelijoita ja kaupunkitilan tekijöitä. Työpajassa luodaan lähtökohdat RYM Oy:n uudelle, kansainväliselle roolille rakennetun ympäristön innovaatiojärjestelmässä.

Työpaja kokoaa yhteen RYM Oy:n keskeiset sidosryhmät sekä muut rakennetun ympäristön etulinjassa liikkuvat tahot aina erilaisista yhteisöistä startupeihin ja järjestöihin. Työpajan järjestää RYM Oy ja Demos Effect, jonka osaamisen ydintä ovat tulevaisuudentutkimus ja yhteiskehittäminen (co-creation). Demos Effect on ajatushautomo Demos Helsingin tytäryhtiö, joka on erikoistunut strategiseen konsultointiin.

Työpaja järjestetään Demos Helsingin toimistolla osoitteessa Töölönkatu 11 keskiviikkona 30.9. klo 14-17. Työpajassa tarjotaan pientä purtavaa.

UiBEX-tutkimusohjelma – käyttäjäkokemuksesta kasvubisnestä – parhaat ehtivät vielä mukaan!

RYM Oy valmistelee UiBEX-tutkimusohjelmaa, jonka ytimessä ovat hyvinvointia tuottavat tilat ja niiden käyttäjäkokemukset. Tavoitteena on luoda edellytyksiä uuteen kasvavaan liiketoimintaan.

Ohjelmaan otetaan mukaan enintään 20 yritystä, jotka haluavat uudistaa liiketoimintaansa ja kehittää henkilöstönsä osaamista. UiBEX-ohjelma tarjoaa nuorille rakennetun ympäristön osaajille hyviä mahdollisuuksia kansainvälistymiseen ja esimerkiksi tohtoriopintoihin.

UiBEX-yritysryhmä on tarkoitus koota viimeistään kesäkuussa. Tutkimusohjelman hakemus lähetetään Tekesiin 9.9.2015 mennessä.

Tervetuloa keskustelemaan kiinteistö- ja rakennusalan tulevaisuudesta! Minkälaista osaamista tarvitaan, kun digitalisaatio mullistaa prosessit ja liiketoimintamallit? Mikä on innovatiivisten yhteisöjen rooli?

UiBEX-ohjelman valmistelussa korostetaan yhdessä tekemistä ja yhteisöllisyyttä. Niiden avulla on saavutettavissa paljon lisäarvoa ja ne luovat perustaa uudelle käyttäjälähtöiselle liiketoiminnalle.

Peloton Club on Pohjoismaiden suurin asumisen, liikkumisen ja ruoan startup-ratkaisujen kehittäjien yhteisö. Tiistaina 19.5. klubilla puhutaan rakennusalan murroksesta.

Luvassa on inspiroivia puheenvuoroja, keskusteluja ja kohtaamisia sekä kaupungin parhaaksi valittua pizzaa. Ovet aukeavat klo 18 ja puheet kuullaan klo 18.30 alkaen. Paikka: Putte’s bar and pizza, Kalevankatu 6.

Three new RYM programs under preparation – it’s not too late to join in!

The strategic research agenda of RYM Oy updated last year produced three themes for new research programs. They are related to user-oriented spaces, a new kind of service competition, and open city models.

The main themes of the strategic research agenda are

  • Well-being Enhancing Spaces
  • Resource Wisdom Improving Competitiveness
  • Investment Inducing Built Environment

The intention is to launch multi-disciplinary and business-oriented research programs in these areas with the aim of creating internationally significant centers of expertise around these themes. RYM’s Board of Directors has selected from among its members persons to lead the preparation teams pertaining to these themes.

TO THE NEXT LEVEL

 Program

The Chairman of the Resource Wisdom Improving Competitiveness theme is Jussi Aho, CEO at Fira Oy, and the Vice Chairman is Jan Elfving, Head of the Nordic Procurement Unit at Skanska Oy. The person in charge of the research is Professor Kalle Kähkönen of Tampere University of Technology.

The TO THE NEXT LEVEL  Program invites people to reform the building sector through business model innovation. That will give new growth potential and opportunities for internationalization. The goal is to launch by 2020 projects worth at least one billion euros at home and projects worth at least three billion euros globally. Read more about the TO THE NEXT LEVEL program!

OPEN CITY MODEL

The Chairman of the Investment Inducing Built Environment theme is Director Pasi Rajala of Ramboll Finland Oy and the Vice Chairman Timo Nieminen, Vice President at SRV Group Plc. The person in charge of the research is Helka-Liisa Hentilä, Professor of Urban Planning at University of Oulu.

The Open City Model intended as the theme of the research program is a service platform created in connection with multi-billion investments in city centers, which will make Finland a leader in the utilization of BIM. Effective use of the city model allows increasing the efficiency of regulatory processes of the real estate and construction sector and improving the service level visible to clients. The city model creates an internationally scalable service platform for Finnish digital and service companies.

USER-ORIENTED SPACE

The Chairman of the Well-being Enhancing Spaces theme is Development Architect Vesa Ijäs of the Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland (ARA) and the Vice Chairman is Juha Lemström, COO at Senate Properties. The person in charge of the research is Professor Kari Reijula of the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health.

The User-Oriented Space program outline invites people to utilize a novel user interface for properties, spaces and the services provided in them. The focus on the needs of the end user controls the value creation of the entire network of actors. Service experience from the real estate sector is used to cope with the major changes taking place in commerce, office work, elderly care and nursing, as well as in the school system. Openness and operating in real-time create new businesses based on the Internet Economy.

Urban development and city models have wind in their sails

The attraction of the EUE (Energizing Urban Ecosystems) research program that focuses on sustainable urban development and the regional innovation ecosystems, services and business models supporting it is growing. At the start of the third season, the number of participants is double that of the previous season. The program aims e.g. to develop and introduce virtual and interactive city models.

The EUE consortium consists of 12 enterprises, e.g. Kone Corporation and Fortum Corporation, the cities of Helsinki and Espoo, the health care organizations of the HUS hospital district and Orton, and five research institutes and universities. Both the enterprises and public operators will benefit from such strong interdisciplinarity and the results of extensive cooperation. Cities and municipalities will get answers to what is expected of new and refurbished urban areas in the future, while companies and consortia will learn how they can offer these solutions in the future.

SITO Oy is a good example of a new program member that studies and pilots the design and operation of the open, continuously updating city model and its integration into the key processes of urban planning. Another subject of its R&D is the sharing of the city model in the form of open data through open interfaces to all users. Practical results of that effort already exists: SITO created a 4D city model of the Kivistö residential and workplace area for the Building Supervision of Vantaa that can be viewed using a Net browser.

Another newcomer, Elisa Corporation, joined the program in order to promote the emergence of a digital service economy through R&D on service structures and their networks. Elisa also has already developed solutions that will allow taking decisive steps together with partners on the path to creating the service economy of the future.

Common vision and three work packages

The three work packages of the research program are Sustainable Innovation City (SIC), Regional Innovation Ecosystems (RIE) and Business in Built Environment (BBE). The work packages and their themes reflect the basic vision of the program and the foundations of urban development at its core: holistic wellbeing, user centric and technology that supports them.

The SIC package, led by SRV, focuses on the processes of sustainable area planning processes from the users’ viewpoint: experience orientation and service design as well as effective use of resources in cities. Answers are sought to how we can design an attractive and ecologically and socially sustainable urban space, and how the carbon emissions of low-rise residential buildings can be brought to a sustainable level.

The RIE package led by the City of Espoo and SITO creates, among other things, area data model concepts by integrating existing data with modern measurement technology, environmental and building models, and virtual elements. Mapping and laser scanning and related solutions are prominently featured as are interaction and BIM. The regional innovation ecosystem will be developed into a regional entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The BBE package led by Fira Oy examines value creation in business settings of several companies or organizations: how they form and function, and how the value creation logic changes during the life cycle.

The key idea behind all RYM research programs is strong international orientation. The EUE program is no exception: it involves active cooperation e.g. with MIT and University of Madrid as well as several other universities across the world.
