When: 19.05.2017, the exhibition area is open 9-17
Where: Aalto Design Factory and Urban Mill, Betonimiehenkuja 3-5, Otaniemi, Espoo

The Product Design Gala is an annual event presenting the results of the interdisciplinary Product Development Project course in Aalto University.

For 20 years PdP has brought students of business, design, and engineering together to tackle industry problems and develop state of the art solutions to real problems. At the Final Product Design Gala you’ll get to witness and experience these awesome products.

The 16 student teams from Aalto University and our partner universities have been working hard for the whole year to complete their design challenges given by industrial companies and other collaborating parties. In the public exhibition you will have a chance to hear about the teams’ accomplishments and process, as well as to get familiar with the people themselves together with their amazing prototypes.

This year the teams are sponsored by such companies as: ABB Marine, Caruna, Fiskars, KONE, Konecranes, Lindström, NOKIA, … . In addition, the Aalto teams have been collaborating with students from universities in : Munich, New York, Philadelphia University, Porto, Stockholm, São Paulo, and more.

You can find more information about the teams and their solutions from PdP Gala 2017 Mobile Service here: http://tag.urbanmill.org/tag/16643

The course is part of CHEMARTS, a long-term strategic collaboration between two Aalto University schools, The School of Chemical Engineering (CHEM) and The School of Arts, Design and Architecture (ARTS). The schools merged their forces with the aim to invent new ways to harness wood and cellulose. The idea is to research the performance and design of advanced cellulosic materials for innovative uses. See http://chemarts.aalto.fi/

CHEMARTS student projects have inspired also the research collaboration for example Design Driven Value Chains in the World of Cellulose (DWoC) project. It is a multidisciplinary research collaboration project funded by Tekes (the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation) focused on finding new and innovative applications for cellulosic materials. The DWoC project combines design thinking and design-driven prototyping with a strong competence in technology development. The project takes place 1.4.2013 – 31.3.2018.

Aallon geoinformatiikan maisteriopiskelijat voitokkaita innovaatiokilpailussa

Aalto-yliopiston opiskelijatiimin työ on voittanut SICK Oy:n innovaatiokilpailun. Voittaneen työn aiheena oli SICK-TiM -laserkeilain voimalinjojen UAV-tarkastuksessa. Opiskelijajoukkueen jäsenet opiskelevat Aalto-yliopiston Rakennetun ympäristön laitoksen Geoinformatiikan maisteriohjelmassa.

opiskelijatiimi

Aalto-yliopiston Rakennetun ympäristön laitoksen kilpailutiimi: Sami-Petteri Karvonen, Joni Salo, Atte Korhonen, Heikki Kauhanen.
