Bring your business in the development of Smart Otaniemi

Smart Otaniemi aims to be one of the leading development environments for future bound smart and sustainable urban solutions.

Goal and vision

For companies, that means easily accessible world-class RDI facilities and co-operation that supports success. In autumn 2022, we will draw up a shared vision and a roadmap for further development of Smart Otaniemi environment.  

This is an amazing networking opportunity for your business and a great change to have an impact on the development of Smart Otaniemi.  

The development plan for Smart Otaniemi will be drafted in three workshops. The key themes of the development – green transition and digitality, fossil-free transport, carbon-neutral energy production and sustainable construction – are derived from Sustainable Espoo programme. In the workshops, we will define the vision and objectives for the key themes and determine the measures for building a development environment for smart and sustainable urban solutions. The partnership network consists of the City of Espoo’s decision-makers and development project officers, business representatives (transport, energy, construction) and representatives of education and research organisations.

There’s place for 50 participants – reserve your seat as soon as possible! (extrernal link) The participants that can join all three workshops will be favored. The registration ends on Friday 2 September 2022. A more detailed agenda and the participation link will be sent to registered attendees closer to the event.

The development plan for Smart Otaniemi will be created in three workshops during autumn 2022. The first workshop in September and the third one in December will be online. In October we will meet face-to-face in Otaniemi. All three workshops will be held in English.

Espoo testaa: yrittäjille ja yrityksille suunnatut tapahtumat ja koulutukset nyt kootusti digitaalisessa tapahtumakalenterissa

Business Espoon tiedote 23.11.2020

Espoossa testataan uutta digitaalista tapahtumakalenteria, joka kokoaa yhteen alueen yrityksille, yrittäjille ja yrittäjyyttä suunnitteleville suunnattujen tapahtumien ja koulutusten tiedot. Kalenterissa on tietoja sekä fyysisistä että virtuaalisista verkostoitumistapahtumista, yrittäjyyskoulutuksista, tiettyyn teemaan tai alaan liittyvistä seminaareista ja esimerkiksi kasvu- ja kiihdyttämöohjelmien hakuajoista.

Tapahtumakalenteri on julkaistu omalla verkkosivulla businessevents.espoo.fi.

Tapahtumakalenteri sisältää hakutoiminnon, ja kokeilun edetessä kalenteriin on tarkoitus lisätä hakuvahti, joka tarjoaa kullekin olennaista tietoa tapahtumista ja koulutuksista suoraan sähköpostiin. Julkaistavat tapahtumat ovat pääsääntöisesti maksuttomia tai voittoa tavoittelemattomia.

Monitasoinen verkostokokeilu
Digitaalisen tapahtumakalenterin kokeilu jatkuu helmikuun 2021 asti. Mukana ovat Business Espoo -yrityspalveluverkoston seitsemän toimijaa: Espoon kaupunki, Enter Espoo, Espoon Yrittäjät, Helsingin seudun kauppakamari, Omnia, Uudenmaan TE-toimiston yrityspalvelut ja YritysEspoo. Lisäksi kokeiluun on pyydetty mukaan Espoon ja sen lähialueen keskeisiä tapahtumajärjestäjiä, jotka järjestävät muun muassa startup-tapahtumia, eri alojen seminaareja ja avoimia verkostoitumistapahtumia. Kokeilussa ovat mukana kalenteria ja sen toimintamallia kehittämässä olleet kumppanit VTT, Aalto Startup Center ja Urban Mill. Mukaan kokeilemaan lähtevät myös eri alojen ekosysteemitoimijoita ja -keskittymiä kuten Smart Otaniemi, Health Capital Helsinki, Helsinki Business Hub ja Business Finland.

”Espoossa osataan tehdä laaja-alaista yhteistyötä, ja tapahtumakalenteria voidaankin kutsua monitasoiseksi verkostokokeiluksi, jossa Business Espoo -verkoston lisäksi on mukana koko ekosysteemiverkostomme toimijoita”, sanoo projektipäällikkö Heli Hidén Espoon kaupungilta.

Kokeilun aikana Espoon kaupunki kumppaneineen kartoittaa yritysten toiveita tapahtumille ja koulutuksille sekä luo pohjaa tapahtumajärjestäjien tiiviimmälle yhteistyölle. Kokeilun aikana mukaan tapahtumistaan ilmoittamaan otetaan arviolta 15−25 organisaatiota.

”Jokainen voi tulla mukaan kokeilemaan ja etsimään haluamiaan tapahtumia. Jo se, että klikkailet juuri sinua kiinnostavia tapahtuma-aiheita, auttaa meitä kehittämään analytiikan kautta alueemme tapahtumatarjontaa”, kannustaa Heli Hidén.

Kokeilu on osa Espoon digiagendan kokeiluja, joilla pyritään kehittämään kaupungin palveluja digitaalisia ratkaisuja ja uutta teknologiaa hyödyntäen. Kalenterin toteuttajan toimii Siili Solutions.

Enter Espoo auttaa ulkomaalaisia yrityksiä ja sijoittajia tekemään kestävää liiketoimintaa ja sijoittumaan Espooseen. Yhtiö tuo kansainvälisiä suuryrityksiä ja sijoittajia yhteen sopivien startupien, scaleupien sekä teknologiaratkaisujen kanssa Espoon innovaatioekosysteemissä. Palveluiden avulla autetaan paikallisia yrityksiä löytämään kansainvälisiä kumppaneita ja luomaan kansainvälistä liiketoimintaa. The first ever virtual Summer Celebration with Otaniemi startups, creatives and sustainability professionals was a refreshing dive into Espoo Innovation Ecosystem scene.

The event was arranged on June 11 in Zoom, produced and broadcasted from Urban Mill, in the heart of Espoo Innovation Garden at Aalto University campus. It attracted 170 participants to learn and discuss about collaboration in the Otaniemi innovation ecosystem. Watch the whole recording from here.

Business, culture and fun in Summer Celebration with Otaniemi startups, creatives and sustainability professionals on June 11

The first ever virtual Summer Celebration with Otaniemi startups, creatives and sustainability professionals was a refreshing dive into Espoo innovation ecosystem scene.

The event was arranged on June 11 in Zoom and broadcasted from Urban Mill, in the heart of Espoo Innovation Garden at Aalto University campus. It attracted 170 participants to learn and discuss about collaboration in the Otaniemi innovation ecosystem. The recording can be watched on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTlAD5KCmaM&t=1s

The celebration began with a musical performance by Retuperän WBK, the legendary Fire Brigade Band of technology students from Aalto University.

This was followed by breakout sessions and discussions by the leaders of the City of Espoo, Aalto University, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and Academic Engineers and Architects in Finland TEK. These are the key institutional players shaping the success of Espoo Innovation Garden, already the biggest Innovation hub in the Northern Europe.

In 2018 the City of Espoo was nominated the most intelligent city in the world. Mayor Jukka Mäkelä emphasized that the point is not to be the most intelligent city but to be the most intelligent community.

“That means that we have to do it together with our citizens, but also it is very important for to the city of Espoo to collaborate with Aalto University, research centers like VTT and with the companies. Collaboration is the key word” he continued.

Keynote speakers were Jyri Engeström, Partner & Co-Founder at Yes VC and Patrick Shulist, Assistant Professor of Sustainability in Business in Aalto University.

The celebration ended with artistic performances by aerial artist Ilona Jäntti and RWBK student orchestra.

Virtual networking platform Deal Room was offered 11.-12.6.2020 for all participants to make virtual 1-1 meetings with other participants before and after the celebrations in Zoom. Over 200 persons registered to this platform, which was also the place where to register to the celebrations and for startups and innovation enablers to set up their virtual booths.
