Aalto-yliopisto järjestää yhdessä valittujen julkisen sektorin organisaatioiden ja konsulttiyhtiö Accenturen kanssa Public Service Hackathon-projektin. Kyseessä on Aalto-yliopiston opiskelijoiden monitieteinen maisteritason kurssi, joka rakentuu 24 tuntia kestävän Hackathon-tapahtuman ympärille. Tapahtuma järjestetään Urban Millissä marraskuussa 2016.

Public Service Hackathon eli #pshack100 valjastaa Aalto-yliopiston opiskelijat ratkaisemaan julkisen sektorin digitalisointiin liittyviä haasteita. Projekti on osa virallista Suomen itsenäisyyden satavuotisjuhlavuoden ohjelmaa. Suomen tulevaisuus -teeman mukaisesti tavoitteena onkin Suomen julkisten palveluiden digitalisaation kiihdyttäminen.

Hackathonin lisäksi 6 opintopisteen maisterikurssiin kuuluu luentoja, ryhmätöitä ja valmennuksia, joissa opiskelijat pääsevät oppimaan julkisen, akateemisen ja yksityisen sektorin asiantuntijoilta. Mukana olevien julkisten organisaatioiden, Aalto-yliopiston, Accenturen ja Fjordin asiantuntijat sparraavat tiimejä koko projektin ajan.

Opiskelijoiden tulee ilmoittautua kurssille 25.10. mennessä Aalto-yliopiston WebOodin kautta kurssikoodilla 20E00200. Kurssi alkaa kick off -tilaisuudella 1.11., itse Hackathon-tapahtuma järjestetään 17.–19.11. ja loppuesitykset esitetään joulukuussa 2016. Voittajatiimi valitaan helmikuussa 2017 järjestettävässä finaalissa.

Aalto University and Accenture organizing Public Service Hackathon at Urban Mill in November 2016

Aalto University organizes Public Service Hackathon project together with selected public sector organizations and consulting service company Accenture. The project forms an interdisciplinary Master’s level course for Aalto University students and is built around the 24h Hackathon event that takes place at Urban Mill in November 2016.

Public Service Hackathon or #pshack100 harnesses Aalto University students to solve real-life digitalization challenges of the Finnish public sector. The project is a part of the official Finland 100 Celebration Year Programme. According to the theme, The Future of Finland, the objective is to accelerate the digitalization of public services in our country.

In addition to the Hackathon event, the 6 ECTS credit Master’s level course includes lectures, teamwork, and coaching, where the students have an excellent opportunity to learn from the experts working in the public, academic, and private sectors. The experts from the participating public sector organizations, Aalto University, Accenture, and Fjord coach the teams throughout the project.

The deadline for registrations is 25th October 2016. Aalto University students can sign up for the course through WebOodi with the course code 20E00200. The course starts with a kick-off event 1st November, the Hackathon event is organized 17th-19th November, and the final presentations take place in December 2016. The winning team is selected in the final in February 2017.
